The Centre for International Affairs (CINTA) successfully hosted a Fulbright awareness programme on 20th April 2026, aimed at promoting higher education and research opportunities in the United States. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Patrick McNamara, Director of the United StatesโSri Lanka Fulbright Commission, together with Program Officer Mr. Shanaka Premarathne. The programme featured two focused sessions tailored to different audiences. The morning session was conducted for postdoctoral researchers and academic staff, providing detailed insights into the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program. Participants were introduced to opportunities for collaborative research, professional development, and academic exchange with leading institutions in the United States. The second session, held in the afternoon, targeted junior lecturers and final-year undergraduate students. This session focused on the Fulbright Masterโs Program, covering eligibility criteria, application procedures, and key elements of a competitive application. The session attracted a large and enthusiastic audience, reflecting the growing interest in international postgraduate study opportunities. Both sessions were highly interactive, allowing participants to engage directly with the Fulbright representatives and clarify queries related to the application process and programme benefits. The event was well received, and participants expressed appreciation for the valuable guidance and insights shared. This initiative strengthens international academic engagement at the University of Ruhuna and raises awareness of globally recognized scholarship opportunities among its academic community. |
