Meeting of the Vice Chancellor with the delegation from Hokkaido Bunkyo University, Japan

    A delegation from the Hokkaido Bunkyo University of Japan visited University of Ruhuna on 27th of September 2023. The Japanese team consisted of

    The Japanese delegation engaged in discussions with the Vice Chancellor on extending the collaboration with the Hokkaido Bunkyo University and University of Ruhuna.

    Signing of MoU between Cochin University of Science and Technology ( CUSAT) and University of Ruhuna on 15th June 2023

    An MoU was signed between University of Ruhuna and the Cochin University of Science and Technology, India on the 15th of June 2023 in the Senate room of the University. The two Vice Chancellors of the Institutes signed this MoU in the presence of MR. Dipin P.R. the Consular General of India in Hambantota, Deans of Faculties, and other dignitaries from the two institutions & the Consulate General of India in Hambantota.

    This MoU will enable student and staff exchange between the two institutions and research in the field of Marine Sciences.








    The French ambassador HE Jean-François PACTET accompanied by several other delegates from the French embassy in Colombo made a courtesy visit to the University of Ruhuna on 10th  February 2023

    His Excellency Jean-François PACTET and the delegation were welcomed by Vice Chancellor Snr. Prof Sujeewa Amarasena the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. E.P. Saman Chandana and the Director of CINTA Prof. P.B. Terney Pradeep Kumara. A formal meeting was conducted at the Senate Room of the University with the participation of the Deans of the Faculties coordinators of French-funded projects and the coordinator of the French Language teaching programme.

    Vice Chancellor made a presentation about the University of Ruhuna explaining the establishment and the current status of the university.  Improving the existing collaborations between France and Sri Lanka and the French Language teaching programmes of the university was discussed at the meeting.

    HE Jean-François PACTET greeted the Vice Chancellor and the University of Ruhuna for their future endeavors and expressed his willingness to further strengthen the bond between France and the University of Ruhuna.

    Followed by the meeting HE Jean-François PACTET participated in a site-seeing tour of the University.

    Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka He Mizukoshi Hideaki visited the University of Ruhuna on 17th May 2023.

    The Japanese Ambassador HE Mizukoshi Hideaki accompanied by several other delegates from the Embassy of Japan visited the University of Ruhuna on 17th May 2023.

    HE Mizukoshi Hideaki and the delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Saman Chandana Ediriweera and the Director of CINTA Prof. P.B. Terney Pradeep Kumara.  A formal meeting was conducted at the Vice Chancellor’s office with the participation of the Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna Most venerable Dr. Akuretiye Nada.

    The close relationship between Japan and Sri Lanka through Buddhism was emphasized during the discussions.

    Followed by the discussions Ambassador planted a tree commemorating his visit to the University and participated in a sightseeing tour at the University premises.

    Prof. H.D. Karunarathne the Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo was also present for the occasion.

    On the 18th of May ambassador Hideaki attended the International Symposium on Agriculture and Environment (ISAE 2023) organized by the Faculty of Agriculture as the Guest of Honour.






    Faculty of Engineering University of Ruhuna and Kanazawa University, Japan entered into a MoU and Student Exchange Agreement on 20th of December 2022 at the Senate Room of the University of Ruhuna.

    This MoU will promote scholarly collaboration and cultural interaction between the two countries, Enabling student and academic exchange, joint research collaboration, collaborative conferences seminars, workshops and exchange of academic and other information.

    The signing ceremony was headed by Vice Chancellor Snr. Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena in the presence of Prof. E.P. Saman Chandana, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Mrs. P.S. Kalugama, The Registrar of UoR Prof. P.B. Terney Pradeep Kumara, Director-CINTA Mr. G.L. Erathna Deputy Registrar Legal and Documentation Prof. G.G. Thushara Chaminda, coordinator of the MoU and representatives from Faculty of Engineering.
