British High Commissioner HE Sarah Hulton visited University of Ruhuna
British High Commissioner, He Sarah Hulton, visited the University of Ruhuna,on 03rd November 2022. accompanied by the political Advisor of the British High Commission, Sri Lanka.
The High Commissioner was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor of University of Ruhuna Snr. Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena, Prof E.P. Saman Chandana, Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Ruhuna and Prof Terney Pradeep Kumara, Director - CINTA. After a short courtesy meeting at the Vice Chancellors office the British High Commissioner participated in a meeting with the Deans of Faculties and the Directors of Centers at the new Senate Room of the University.
Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies Snr. Prof. D.A.L. Leelamanie, Dean of the Faculty of FMST, Prof. Asoka Deepanada, Director- CQA Snr. Prof Mahinda Atapattu, Director- CGU, Prof. Thusitha Gunawardane, Director - TTO, Dr. Lahiru Prabodha Head – DELT, Dr. Sanjaya Samaraweera, Former Director – CINTA, Snr. Prof. Wasantha Kumara, Dr. Tharaka Wijesundara, CINTA BoM Member – FmF, representatives from Faculty of Science and Faculty of Agriculture and Mrs. Nisansala Wickramasinghe, Assistant Registrar (Acting) – CINTA were Present at the meeting.
A Brief presentation about the University of was done by the Vice Chancellor, UoR. The existing collaborations with the Universities of Great Britain and the close relationship with Britain and the academics of University of Ruhuna were explained by the Deans, Directors and Heads. Possible future collaborations including research and academic exchange were discussed at the meeting. High Commissioner HE Sarah Hulton expressed her interest in strengthening inter-university collaborations between our two countries, and greeted the Vice Chancellor and the University of Ruhuna for their future endeavors. Followed by the meeting the High Commissioner planted a tree at the University premises commemorating her visit to the University of Ruhuna.
