The Australian High Commissioner HE Paul Stephens and his Wife Mrs. Christina Stephens accompanied by several other delegates from the Australian High Commission, Colombo visited University of Ruhuna on 30th November 2022.
The High Commissioner initially visited the new Faculty building of the Faculty of Graduate situated at Fort, Matara which was opened on the same day witnessing to be the first international visitor of the new premises. Snr. Prof. D.A.L. Leelamanie the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies welcomed his excellency and after a small courtesy meeting and a site visit of the premises HE Paul Stephens visited the main complex of the University of Ruhuna at Wellamadama.
HE Paul Stephens and the delegation was welcomed at the main complex by the Vice Chancellor Snr. Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Saman Chandana and the Director of CINTA Prof. P.B. Terney Pradeep Kumara. A formal meeting was conducted at the Senate Room of the UoR with the participation of Deans and the members of the Board of Management of CINTA where Vice Chancellor did a small introduction about the University of Ruhuna and existing collaborations between UoR and Australian Universities. During his speech he emphasized the close relationship between Australia and Sri Lanka in a variety of fields. HE Paul Stephens greeted the Vice Chancellor and the University of Ruhuna for future endeavors and expressed Australian High Commissions interest in strengthening inter-university collaborations between the two countries, by identifying potential opportunities to do so.
